Reclaiming A Neighborhood
For more than ten years, the 900-1000 Center Street neighborhood in West Oakland was overrun with drug dealers and their customers. Burglaries, assaults, and even shootings were common. Law-abiding residents felt like prisoners in their own homes.
Problem Solving Officer Brad Young and his partner, Officer A.C. Smith, were determined to make the neighborhood safe again. And they knew it wasn't going to be easy.
